Ms. Gail Scotton Baylor
Attorney-at-Law
For many years, Attorney Baylor has served the Georgia public with not only her legal expertise but also with compassion, understanding, and heart. Ms. Baylor's solo practice in Georgia first began around 1991 filing Chapter 7 and 13 bankruptcy cases in the United States Bankruptcy Court, Northern District of Georgia, Atlanta Division. During the harsh recession that began around 2007, Ms. Baylor diligently worked with numerous Georgians representing them in bankruptcy court, helping them to keep their possessions, keep their homes out of foreclosure, and even filing for modifications to their existing mortgage loans when appropriate. In addition to bankruptcy law, Ms. Baylor's practice areas included, but were not limited to personal injury, workers compensation, social security, wills and probate, and family law. No matter the circumstances of her clients, Ms. Baylor's goal was to serve each individual with excellence, dignity and respect regardless of one's station in life. She currently specializes in Chapter 7 bankruptcy cases, wills, probate, adoptions as well as uncontested domestic relations matters. She also handles personal injury cases.
Most significantly, Ms. Baylor has been involved in pro bono work with the Georgia Legal Services Program as well as in her own practice. In October 2014, her work was recognized by the State Bar of Georgia pro bono director when a short story that she wrote about an adoption entitled "An Unexpected Joy" was published in Georgia Advocates.org. The Georgia Legal Services Program also featured this story in the Winter Newsletter 2014 entitled "An Unexpected Joy: Making the Difference in the Life of a Child" as well as in their Annual Report 2014 "Helping People Turn Struggles Into Triumph." Again, Ms. Baylor presented this same story at the Annual Convention of the State Bar of Georgia held July 2014 for the ICLE "Pro Bono Showcase Eureka Moments - Pro Bono Attorneys tell All".
Ms. Baylor is committed to helping the underserved and disadvantaged in her community as well as continuing her work with seniors as she has done throughout her years of practice.
Ms. Baylor is a proud graduate of Howard University's School of Communications and Howard Law School, Washington, D.C.
Ms. Baylor considers her life's work as "ministry" and is a past recipient of the Esther Award given by the National Coalition of Women in Ministry. (NCWM)
